Building on its headquarters, its network of Satellite Applications Facilities and cooperation with other satellite operators, EUMETSAT supports the development of climate information services through the rescue, re-calibration and re-processing of long series of satellite observations and the delivery and validation of the resulting climate data records. Within the Data Centre Operations Team, the Climate Data Processing Engineer will implement technical data processing activities for the generation and validation of EUMETSAT climate data records in support of the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S). This involves the implementation and operation of climate data record production and validation systems and the distribution and archiving of the produced data.

VN 18/17 - EPS-SG LEOP and Operations Preparation Engineer

The EUMETSAT Polar System of Second Generation (EPS-SG) will monitor weather, the environment and climate from the mid-morning polar orbit over a period of 21 years based on three successive pairs of Metop-SG satellites developed by ESA - the first of which is planned to be launched in 2021/2023. Each pair of satellites will embark a total of eleven instruments. EUMETSAT is the system authority for the development of the full EPS-SG system, develops the overall ground segment, and is responsible for the ground segment and system integration, verification and validation, the Launch and Early Operations Phase (LEOP) services, system commissioning and operations. Reporting to the EPS-SG Operations Preparation Manager, the EPS-SG LEOP and Operations Preparation Engineer will support all Launch and Early Operations (LEOP) and related operations preparation activities.

VN 18/21 - Programme Management Support and Coordination Engineer

EUMETSAT is developing the Second Generation of its Polar System (EPS-SG) to monitor weather, the environment and climate from the mid-morning polar orbit over a period of 21 years. The EPS-SG system is based on three successive pairs of Metop-SG satellites equipped with complementary instruments, the first of which is planned to be launched in 2021/2023. Each pair of satellites will embark a total of eleven instruments. The EPS-SG space segment includes the six Metop-SG satellites, developed and procured by ESA through a cooperation agreement, equipped with instruments developed through cooperation agreements with ESA, CNES and DLR. EUMETSAT is the system authority for the development of the end-to-end system, develops the full ground segment and procure all launch services, and will be responsible for operations of the overall system. Reporting directly to the EPS-SG Programme Manager, the holder of the post will provide programme management support and coordination across all programme activities, including cooperation with development partners.

VN 18/20 - Project Manager for Future Copernicus Sentinel Missions

Reporting to the head of the LEO Division, the Project Manager for future Copernicus Sentinel missions will manage EUMETSAT’s contributions to the development of future Copernicus missions in cooperation with ESA.

This involves the quality assessment and re-calibration of data from historical and current instruments and estimation of uncertainties.
